In 2003, the mythologically significant Samibrukhya Hills in the Mayurbhanj district’s Debala panchayat under Kaptipada block were designated as a tourist destination. When the tourist season opens, a lot of people swarm the area to have picnics. According to the scripture, the five Pandav brothers were beneath a tree, hiding with their bride Draupadi. In Kaliyuga, that tree is now known as the stone (Kaliyug). Samibrukshya is a hill formed by this solitary stone. An annual fair is held in Samibrukhya around January 14th (Makar Sankranti).
Samibrukhya Hills is situated in Debala, approximately 63 kilometers away from the town of Baripada. Reaching a height of approximately 500 feet, Samibrukhya is a vertical rock. There is a mythology connected to this location. Legend has it that the Pandavas and Draupadi came to this location during their Aagyatvas and hid their weapons in the branches of this hallowed oak. Currently, the Pruthimanikani Hills are home to this tree. The communication to Samibrukhya Hills is good.
At the foot of the hill, at the road’s entrance, are concrete arrows, bows, and bhim maces. On the hill, people worship Hanuman, Ganesh, Shiva, and Mata Kunti in addition to the idols of the five Pandavas. The two biggest celebrations celebrated here are Maha Shivaratri and Makar Sankranti Mela, which draw many locals. In Mayurbhanj, Odisha, there is a tourist site called Samibrukshya Hill Station. Beautiful picnic areas may be near Samibrukhya at the Machhakandana Waterfall and Kala Dam.
