Biraja Odia Calendar May 2026

The Biraja Calendar is an important part of Odisha culture, and it serves as a spiritual measure in addition to providing dates. It uses the Biraja Panjika, a highly respected reference book of astrology and Hinduism.

The Biraja Calendar has been faithfully maintained for over 30 years by Pandit Sri Chandra Sekhar Nanda, who has made it an important tool in planning daily activities, festivals, and rituals according to the most favorable planets and stars at any given time.

Just like the Gregorian Calendar, the Biraja Odia Calendar has twelve months. The twelve months of the Biraja Odia Calendar are: (1) Baisakh, (2) Jaistha, (3) Ashadha, (4) Srabana, (5) Bhadrava, (6) Aswina, (7) Kartika, (8) Margasira, (9) Pausa, (10) Magha, (11) Phalguna, (12) Chaitra.

Just like the Western/Gregorian Calendar, there are six seasons in the Biraja Odia Calendar, as well: (1) Grishma, (2) Barsha, (3) Sharada, (4) Hemanta, (5) Shita, (6) Basanta.
