Biraja Odia Calendar October 2026

As part of Odisha’s living tradition, the Biraja Calendar has served as both an archive of culture and a resource for spirituality. The true value of the calendar comes from its accuracy, which has been established by the authoritative text called The Biraja Panjika.

This accumulated body of knowledge has been curated over the past thirty years by Pandit Sri Chandra Sekhar Nanda through his dedication to the calendar. Therefore, it provides the individual with a guide and a structure to connect to the rhythm of everyday life to the sacred seasons of the year, as well as to the important family celebrations and ceremonies that take place throughout the year.

Just like the Gregorian Calendar, the Biraja Odia Calendar has twelve months. The twelve months of the Biraja Odia Calendar are: (1) Baisakh, (2) Jaistha, (3) Ashadha, (4) Srabana, (5) Bhadrava, (6) Aswina, (7) Kartika, (8) Margasira, (9) Pausa, (10) Magha, (11) Phalguna, (12) Chaitra.

Just like the Western/Gregorian Calendar, there are six seasons in the Biraja Odia Calendar, as well: (1) Grishma, (2) Barsha, (3) Sharada, (4) Hemanta, (5) Shita, (6) Basanta.
