The meticulously crafted ODI ART CENTRE is cradled and nurtured by Chilika Lake, an ecological marvel of Eastern India. The Purvasha Folk and Tribal Art Museum is housed in the Centre, which was built with financial assistance from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the Department of Tourism and Culture, Government of Odisha. Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon. Chief Minister of Odisha, dedicated it in 2017. The ‘Society for the Development of Rural Literature,’ a non-profit cultural registered society, created ODI ART on five acres of land with the noble goal of preserving traditional and folk heritage.
The center, designed to reflect local textures and tones, has displayed Odisha’s folk and tribal arts alongside folk arts from other states and countries. Chilika, Asia’s largest brackish water lake, attracts international attention as a bird sanctuary and enchants nature enthusiasts. It now has the ODI ART Centre, which serves as a folk art sanctuary for creative minds and artists. ODI ART is an ethnic art complex with nine amphitheaters and kiosks for folk performances, site-specific installations, and exhibitions, a state-of-the-art conference hall, and a library to inspire creative minds.
