Paradeep Port Lighthouse, Paradip, Jagatsinghpur, Odisha

Paradip is a port town located on the Mahanadi River’s mouth, approximately 95 kilometers from Cuttack. The need for a major lighthouse arose as a result of the establishment of a major port at Paradip in the 1960s. Construction on the 40m RCC circular tower began in December 1982 and was completed in March 1987.

Paradeep is a major port city in Odisha, located 104 kilometers from Bhubaneswar. It is a municipality in the Odisha district of Jagatsinghpur and is known for its beautiful and expansive beaches. At the beach, there is also a lighthouse with a differential global positioning system. Apart from its clear skies, blue waters, sun-drenched evergreen forests, and miles of lush green grasslands crisscrossed by rivers and streams, Paradeep is well-known for its marine drive.

Muhana Point is an estuary where the Mahanadi River meets the Bay of Bengal. Tourists can also visit the Smruti Udyan, which is dedicated to the memory of those who died in the 1999 Super Cyclone. It also has a lovely musical fountain. The Paradip Marine Aquarium, Odisha’s largest, is also a must-see, with 28 tanks containing various fish species.

The port of Paradip has an artificial lagoon-type harbor that is protected by two rubble mounds known as “Break Waters” and is accessible via a dredged channel. The North Break Water is 538 meters long on the port’s north-eastern side, and the South Break Water is 1217 meters long on the port’s south-eastern side.
