The Sidheshwar Temple is situated on a hillock in Naraj, which is on the banks of the Mahanadi River. It lies at a distance of 17 km from Cuttack City and is 25 km from Bhubaneswar. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is worshipped as the main deity. Siddheshwar temple is one of the historic temples of Odisha.
The construction of this temple has a relation to some legendary tales. It is said by the local people that a Linga was installed by Arjuna worshipping him or seeking his success. Close to the temple, there exists a small cave where the Pandavas are believed to have stayed during their exile. A few steps away from the temple of Shiva; there is a Yajna Kund, and a bow of Arjuna is fixed inside a stone.
This temple has a very popular festival called Mahashivratri. All over Odisha, devotees make their way to this place to pay homage to Lord Siddheshwar Mahadev throughout the year. In the month of Shravana, many Kavadias visit this place to pour water on this Shiva Linga.
