Silver City Boat Club located near the Mahanadi River in Cuttack, Odisha’s former capital, recently got a swanky new boat club as part of the state’s focus on exploring the state’s tourism potential. The new Silver City Boat Club features a floating jetty, booking counter and lifeguard complex, toilet block, restaurant, parking area, and a children’s park. The Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) rebuilt a cyclone-damaged club to promote water-based sporting facilities for visitors.
According to tourism officials, the boat club will be built in stages and will include amenities such as pedal boats, speed boats, jet skis, banana boats, water scooters, and so on. Kayaking and scuba diving facilities are also in the works. While the OTDC will manage the Boat Club, private operators will also be involved. Private operators will be able to use the infrastructure and facilities to run their programs under the current user fee structure. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik recently inaugurated the Silver City Boat Club with the pandemic situation in mind.
