Situated near the banks of the Brahmani River, Vedvyas temple is at a distance of just 5 km away from Panposh and 12 km from Rourkela city. The atmosphere of the Vedvyas temple is serene due to the religion. The temple is named after one of the oldest Rishis, Vedvyasa who is known primarily as the writer of the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
As per some accounts, it is believed that even the great saint Veda Vyasa was born here and that he composed the epic Mahabharata sitting inside this cave known as the Vedvyasa cave. The temple stands at the joining of the rivers Koel, Sankh, and Saraswati. There is a smasti ground adjacent to the temple of Vedavyasa.
The principal festival of this temple draws numerous pilgrims for Shiva Ratri and Kartika Purnima. The temple is situated in the Sundargarh district. Tourists from the states of Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand also visit this place, besides the people of Odisha.
