Budharaja Mountain is close to the village of Papanga. It is approximately 33 kilometers from the district headquarters of Bargarh. At the foot of Papanga Hill, there is a Budharaja temple. The mountain is 600 feet above sea level. The dense forest and Papanga Mountain surround the temple. On Budharaja mountain, there is a lovely forest garden called Bankhol. There are also many other beautiful places to visit, such as Lord Shriram’s temple, a Yogashram, a Mango Grove, and a triangle-shaped pond. In the Bargarh District, there is a picnic area called Papanga Pahad.
The mountain is inextricably linked to Vir Surendra Sai’s rebellion against the British. Historians date the origin of the deity Budharaja in the mountain to the 17th or 18th century. On the day of Chaitya Purnima, the festival known as Banabihar is observed here, attracting people from all over the district and beyond. This mountain has a Ramchandra Yogashram, which you will reach after climbing 250 steps. The most popular tourist attractions in Bargarh, Odisha, are Papanga Mountain and Budharaja Temple.
