The Biswanath Temple is a revered Hindu temple located on the upper part of the Biswanath Mundia hill near the village of Delang in the Khordha district of Odisha, India. According to archaeologists and historians, there were several Buddhist stupas and monasteries on this hill in antiquity. Biswanath Hill was the site of the ancient Dignaga monastery, named after the renowned Buddhist logician and philosopher Dignāga.

The Biswanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. The temple, locally known as “Biswanath Mundia”, contains a prominent lingam, the aniconic symbol of Lord Shiva. To reach the hilltop temple, visitors must climb around 200 stone steps. The temple premises offer sweeping views of the surrounding plains and villages.

Two major Hindu festivals are celebrated at the Biswanath Temple every year – Maha Shivaratri, the Great Night of Lord Shiva in February/March, and Maha Bisuba Sankranti in April/May.
